Advent, the four weeks before
Christmas, is a rich season that can be completely overwhelmed by frantic
card-sending, gift-buying, cookie-baking, and the commercialism of the world.
In a similar way, the season of Christmas, the twelve days from Christmas Day to Epiphany, can also be lost as people return to business as usual. When we take the time to prepare, reflect, pray, and renew ourselves during Advent, we eagerly await the birth of Jesus, God's greatest gift to us. These days help us truly celebrate the gift of God's Son on Christmas Day and the days following.
