Lectionary Readings

  • Lectionary Readings in NRSV:a project of the Vanderbilt Divinity Library with a 2-fold purpose. 1. To provide a reference resource for ministers, students and parishioners that gives easy access to the selections of the Revised Common Lectionary week by week. 2. To invite reflection through reading the biblical texts on varied backgrounds and viewing selected images from the Vanderbilt University Special Collections.
  • David Morris Lectionary Page: Weekly lectionary readings. Opens in NIV; can gateway to RSV, NASB, KJV. Can pull up separate listings, or all the lectionary readings on one page.
  • Samuel: (Scripture and Memory UCC Electronic Libary). A resource from the United Church of Christ, which includes lectionary texts, sermon "seeds", teaching and liturgy suggestions

Lectionary Study Sites

  • The Text This Week: by Jenee Woodard. The finest lectionary study site on the web. An amazing site which provides links to a wealth of material on each of the lectionary passages, plus many valuable links to general worship, preaching, and biblical studies sites. If you'd like to receive a weekly email with highlights for the lectionary passage of the week, click here for instructions.
  • Sermons and Sermon Lectionary Resources: by Rev. Richard Fairchild. Simply the best "metasite" out there. An extensive, lovingly maintained collection of links related to all aspects of preaching. Bookmark it; you'll be there often.
  • Commentary on the Revised Common Lectionary: by Chris Haslam of the Anglican Church of Canada. One of the best introductions to each lectionary reading out there. Offered each week are: Comments - a commentary on the readings for the week; Intros - short introductions to the readings for use in the liturgy; Clippings - more technical information on each reading.
  • Deacon Sil's Homiletics Page: by Deacon Sil Galvan. What distinguishes this site is the way all the passage references are directly linked to commentaries and other resources. This site now is by registration and a nominal yearly membership fee. Well worth it.
  • Christian Resource Institute: The goal of this site is to provide quality resources for personal study, reflection, teaching, and preaching in the Church. These resources are organized around both Sunday and Daily Lectionary Readings, resources and information to aid the study of Scripture, as well as other information relating to biblical and theological topics in the church. Some very fine intros to the lectionary and the church year. Very insightful commentary on the weekly passages.
