"Centering Prayer is a method of prayer, which prepares
us to receive the gift of God's presence, traditionally called contemplative prayer. It
consists of responding to the Spirit of Christ by consenting to Gods presence and
action within. It quiets us to cooperate with the gift of Gods presence.
Centering Prayer facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer into a
receptive prayer of resting in God. It emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with
God. At the same time, it is a discipline to foster and serve this relationship by a
regular, daily practice of prayer. It is Trinitarian in its source, Christ-centered in its
focus, and ecclesial in its effects; that is, it builds communities of faith."

The Liturgy of the Hours (also known as the Divine Office) is
the richest single prayer resource of the Christian Church. It provides prayers, psalms
and meditation for every hour of every day. It has existed from the earliest times, to
fulfil Christ's command to pray without ceasing. Never monotonous, always new, it provides
the means for the whole world, united, to pray together and sanctify every hour of every
day of every year. All over the world, hundreds of thousands of people have vowed to pray
the Liturgy daily, and all over the world they do, in public and in private, in tin shacks
and cathedrals, in palaces and in prison camps.
The Universalis website does all the calendar calculations
for you, and presents you with the psalms and readings for each hour of today, every day.
