ERIN S.COX-HOLMES - PRESBYTERY ASSOCIATE

EDUCATION
Erin graduated from the University of Redlands in Southern California in 1980 with majors in English Literature and Religion. In 1983 she received a Master of Divinity from Earlham School of Religion (a Quaker Seminary). She went on to do doctoral coursework in "Religion and the Personality Sciences" at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. She has clinical training in pastoral counseling.

WORK HISTORY
Erin began her professional career as a pastoral counselor, serving in San Anselmo, California and Dearborn, Michigan. She was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 1988. She served as a youth director, Associate Pastor for Christian Education, and Interim Pastor for congregations in Michigan. In the Presbytery of Kiskiminetas Erin served as a supply preacher and on the Committee on Ministry before joining the presbytery staff. In 1994 she was called as the Presbytery Associate for Christian Education and Nurture. In 1998 her position was expanded to Presbytery Associate for Congregational Ministries. Erin is active in the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators and served as a chaplain for the 1997 Presbyterian Women's National Gathering. She is also the Stated Supply Pastor of the Pleasant Grove Church.

WHAT SHE DOES AS PRESBYTERY ASSOCIATE
Erin's job responsibilities are divided between program administration for the presbytery and support of congregation-based ministries. She also provides staff support for the Commissioned Lay Pastor Training Program, the Kiski Youth Council and is mother hen for the Presbytery Computer Task Group.

PERSONAL
Erin met her husband, Kent Holmes, at Earlham School of Religion. They've been married for 14 years. Kent is the pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney. Erin and Kent have 2 children, Graham Cox-Holmes, age 12, and Meredith Cox-Holmes, age 4. On her own time, Erin can usually be found fiddling with her computer, until her son drags her away for a squirt gun fight or Meredith demands another rendition of Green Eggs and Ham. Erin also enjoys gardening, loves movies, and has been puzzling over the same ee cummings poem for the last 20 years.
