Hotel Rwanda (DVD 4AC 001) - Don Cheadle stars in the true-life story of Paul Rusesabagina, a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsi refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia in Rwanda. This 122 minute film is based on his stance against savagery during the 1994 Rwandan conflict.

Sometimes in April - (DVD) - This harrowing drama focuses on the almost indescribable human atrocities that took place a decade ago through the story of two Hutu brothers - one in the military, one a radio personality - whose relationship and private lives were forever changed in the midst of the genocide. The movie is the first large-scale film about the 100 days of the 1994 Rwandan genocide to be shot in Rwanda, in the locations where the real-life events transpired. Warning: graphic violence.

The Angels Have Left Us
(BK 4AC 030) - The massacres in Rwanda are described in the stories included in this book. It focuses on the part played in events by churches in Rwanda, throughout Africa, and around the world. The author analyzes the roots of the tragedy, looks at the future of a shattered church in a shattered country, and poses hard questions about what the church should do.

We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with our Families (BK 4AC 031) - A staff writer for the New York Times writes the haunting story of the killings in Rwanda. In 1994 the government of Rwanda called on everyone in the Hutu majority to kill everyone in the Tutsi minority, and 800,000 people were murdered. Philip Gourevitch presents a vivid history of the genocide's background, as well as what it meant to survive in the aftermath.

Shake Hands with the Devil (BK 4AC 032) - U.N. Force Commander Lt. Gen. Romeo Dallaire was assigned to a peacekeeping force in Rwanda in 1993-94. His call for more support went unanswered, and he witnessed the murder of 800,000 Rwandans in 100 days. His book is an eyewitness account of the failure of humanity to stop genocide, and his own struggle to find a measure of peace, reconciliation, and hope.

Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust (BK 4AC 033) - The Rwandan holocaust unfolded before the eyes of a young Tutsi woman home from college over Easter break. Immaculée Ilibagiza spent 90 days hiding from killers in her pastor’s 3’x4’ bathroom with seven other women, hearing how her family and many of her countrymen had been slaughtered. Incredibly, she has forgiven the killers and helped Rwandan women entrepreneurs rebuild their communities. In the process, she taught people everywhere how to overcome evil with good.
