I am Betty Grunstra, a member of the Presbyterian Church of Brookville, where my husband served as the pastor for many years before retirement. I have been involved in all aspects of the church. In the Brookville Church, I taught Church School, third and fourth grade, for years. I play in the handbell choir and am Moderator of Presbyterian Women. I also have served the wider church on the national level of Presbyterian Women. I continue to serve PW on the presbytery level.
I am active in the community as a volunteer. I chair the community bloodmobiles for the American Red Cross and teach CPR and First Aid. Visiting in nursing homes with our church members is something I enjoy too. I try to help wherever I am needed.
I went to Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002 with the Presbyterian Women’s Global Exchange. We visited a children’s home for HIV/AIDS orphans. We saw beautiful crafts that women were making to try to make a better life for themselves. These crafts are sold through groups here in the states. I found that I wanted to help these people to have a better life.
I hope that by creating a presbytery partnership, we can become familiar with others needs and learn about another culture. I feel that God calls me to this task.
