I, Marty (Martha) Cartmell am currently
ministering in Northern Cambria to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and in St.
Benedict to St. Benedict Presbyterian Church. I came to serve these churches
in the Fall of 1993 from Geneva Presbytery in NY state. I consider it a
honor to serve my Savior Jesus Christ with these wonderful people. I hope to
encourage them to grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I
am currently the moderator of Kiskiminetas Presbytery and serve the wider
church by being part of the scholarship and grants committee of the Synod of
the Trinity. I originally came from NY state where I was a teacher of
children with special needs. I not only hold a MDiv degree but also a BS and
MS in Education. Most of my life I have lived in NY state. My mother came
from Northern Ireland so I do have family ties to Europe. One of the most
interesting and rewarding experiences was doing a ministerial exchange for a
couple of months with the Rev. Nancy Cubitt in Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan in
Ireland in 2004. It allowed me to visit with my family in Ireland as well as
experience ministering in another country.Jesus Christ has led me to
Pennsylvania to help me grow in my faith and learn more as I serve Him and
His church. I delight to serve God with new experiences especially that
involve travel. I currently serve my community by begin on the local Library
Board of trustees. I did help develop an outreach to the Youth in Northern
Cambria with the initiation of the Coal Country Hangout Youth Center, a non
profit organization, in 1995. Although I have resigned from that Board of
Directors I take pleasure in reporting that the Youth Center continues on
with others in the community serving its needs. I do have a passion for the
children and I love to teach. I am looking forward to seeing how God is
growing the church in Africa and how the children’s needs are being met. I
hope to be a blessing to the other 8 people going to Rwanda so that we can
all grow and learn together with God’s people.
