What does it mean to be a Presbyterian?
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) web site features an excellent resource on “What Presbyterians Believe.” Using an ongoing series of articles collected from Presbyterians Today formerly known as Presbyterian Survey, this site links you to some excellent articles on a myriad of topics, from angels and art to work and worship. The articles are ideal for new members, for Presbyterians who did not grow up in the denomination, or for lifelong Presbies who may have always wondered about the denomination’s explanation of particular puzzling topic. Check it out at www.pcusa.org/today/believe/believe.htm.

Kiski Resource Center

Our Presbytery's Resource Center contains approximately 4,000 items: books, kits, videos, curriculum, equipment, banners, and more. The churches' mission dollars support the Center, and every member of the Presbytery is invited and encouraged to take advantage of its resources.  Visit the Resource Center at 190 Main Street, Yatesboro from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; phone your requests to 724-783-7406; or search online for materials at the Resource Center Online. Resources can be mailed to borrowers, and materials can be picked up or returned at Presbytery meetings or events. Check out our logo, designed in 2004 by Chris Goossen. Read a little about the history of the Resource Center from its early days to the present.

KiskiPby Message Board

Are you looking for a place to exchange ideas, ask questions, and connect with other folks from the presbytery? If you have internet access, then "Kiski Community: Presbytery Discussions Online" is the place for you. This robust message board currently has areas to engage in general chat, to hold online committee meetings and to discuss topics such as sermons, worship, revitalization, Sunday School. Workshop Rotation issues, and stewardship. Additional areas can be opened up by request to the pby webmaster.

Great Sign Me Up!! How???

On the Mainpage of the Kiski Website  click on Kiski Community: presbytery message board found in the blue box under "Site Tools."
On the kiski chat page, click "register" up in the top right hand corner.
Agree to the site policy (that you are not going to post any threatening or obscene material, and that you understand that material posted in the message board is the opinion of the poster, not that of the presbytery as the sponsoring organization.)
On the registration page fill in your login name (whatever you want it to be) and your valid email address, any of the other fields for which you’d like to provide information, and your preferences.
Click submit registration. You will automatically be sent a password to use the first time you login. (This step allows us to confirm that you’ve used a valid email address.) After the first login, you will be able to set your own password.
If you are a member of a presbytery committee with an online meeting, you will be authorized by one of the administrators to enter the committee discussion.

That’s it! Next time you want to get in to the message board, just login. (The site will automatically remember you and keep you logged in on the same computer if you permit those settings.) Enjoy meeting and talking with other folks! Get your own topics going! Ask the webmaster for new discussion areas!

Jail, anyone?

Jesus sets a pretty strong precedent for visiting those in prison and we are asking you to think seriously about becoming a jail volunteer. Kiskiminetas Presbytery has a Prison Task Force which asks you to prayerfully consider becoming a part of our prison ministry. Please join us. If you have any questions, you can contact Pam Cavalier by email at pcavalier@yourinter.net or phone at 724-726-5406 Rev. David Caves by email at dcavesjr@windstream.net or at 724-724-545-2713. Read More About it Here. The Prison Society holds regular meetings on the third Thursday of the month at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Indiana at 7:00 p.m.

A Better Cup of Coffee
Coffee is the world's second most heavily traded commodity in the world, after oil. Unfortunately for the many small coffee farmers who harvest the beans, the reward is small. Some 20 million people living near the equator depend on coffee for their livelihood, but with the price in constant flux and their need to trade through middlemen, often these people are trapped in poverty from the very product we enjoy every day. The Presbyterian Coffee Project provides a way to help small farmers in the developing world by drinking "fair-traded" coffee. The project is introducing congregations across the country to great-tasting coffee purchased at just prices from small growers.

In response to this justice issue, the Presbyterian Coffee Project was born in partnership with Equal Exchange, an interfaith trade organization. The project calls upon Presbyterians to buy coffee and tea that is fairly traded so that the farmers can earn a fair share from their harvest. Through Equal Exchange, coffee may be purchased for church events and home use. High quality coffee and tea are offered for sale, and with each purchase, the Equal Exchange makes a contribution to the Presbyterian Small Farmer Fund, which furthers supports coffee farmers and their families. For information on ordering coffee, visit the Equal Exchange web site at http://store.yahoo.com/equalexchange or call Equal Exchange at 781-830-0303, ext. 228. For congregations interested in learning more about the Presbyterian Coffee Program, free brochures are available from Presbyterian Distribution Services. Call 800-524-2612 and request PDS #74360-01-316.
